Violin Fingering Chart
The open strings of the violin from lowest to highest are G, D, A, and E.
This chart will show you the traditional fingering for all of the notes in first position.
You will notice that each finger can be used for two different notes. Low 1 and 1 are both used by the first finger (pointer finger), Low 2 and 2 are used by the second finger (middle finger), 3 and high 3 are used by the third finger (ring finger), and low 4 and 4 are used by the fourth finger (pinky).
This chart can be overwhelming at first! Memorize the natural notes first (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) and then move onto the ♯/♭ notes.
